In response to the spreading phenomena of social problems in Colombia the YMCAs of Colombia assist children and young people and families at high risk of home abandonment and provide alternative life choices.

Through processes of self reflection and motivation and educational and recreational, children young people  and parents receive comprehensive support to strengthen intra-familiar relationships and find alternative solutions in situations of acute socio-economic distress. Moreover, income-generating activities promoted through vocational training and small businesses contribute to establishing the families economic condition and their ability to attend to their children's needs

A part of the project involves the production of bracelets, necklaces, bags, earrings, journals, and others.  The production of  handy crafts came up as a strategy to encourage young people to remain in the program when seeing that their work is appreciated and paid. Actually many of the youth make their living with the making of these products. Our Y markets these products around the world.
